Midwest International Research Institute (MIRI)

MIRI was established as an affiliate of Midwest University, approved by the U.S. federal government as a non-profit research foundation, aiming to contribute to society and effect global change through research in various fields.

We welcome all U.S. visiting researchers, including J-1 Sponsor students, professors, and researchers.

This visa is issued through visitor programs to allow entry into the U.S. for applicants seeking practical learning or training experiences, as well as to enhance international cooperation through information exchange. It supports participation in exchange visit programs for sharing specialized knowledge and skills in fields such as science, arts, and education. Eligible participants include students, trainees, interns, teachers, doctors, scholars, professors, researchers, camp counselors, government officials, and international visitors.

MIRI Research Foundation Visiting Fellow Eligibility Requirements
  • Currently employed in government service, academia, or a professional field
  • Holders of J-1 visas with a minimum educational attainment of a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree
  • No disqualifying factors for visa issuance
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a relevant field, with proof of employment available
  • Eligible categories include graduate students, Post Docs, government officials, teachers, researchers, professionals, and missionaries
  • Basic proficiency in English required; TOEFL scores accepted or substitute with Midwest University's own English interview
