A major milestone in international higher education was marked on April 10 with the official opening of a new campus in Beijing, underscoring a continued commitment to global expansion and academic excellence. The ceremony highlighted the institution’s growing international presence and reaffirmed its reputation as a university with a strong and far-reaching global network.
The event was attended by Dr. James Song, President of Midwest University, and his spouse, alongside Dr. Jaemyung Song, Vice President of the Seoul Office, and his spouse. The occasion also drew a distinguished group of international dignitaries, including an Argentine senator, the Mayor of Buenos Aires, the Vice President of UNESCO Latin America, and the Secretary-General of UNESCO Mexico. Further elevating the significance of the ceremony, a minister-level official and the Chair of the Arts Council of Australia were also in attendance.
More than 20 faculty members from Korea and the United States participated in the event, joined by senior officials from China and Midwest University alumni actively engaged across the region. Their collective presence highlighted the breadth and strength of the university’s global academic and professional network.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Midwest University and the Mayor of Buenos Aires to establish a “Global Innovation Leadership Network.” This agreement signals a new phase in international academic cooperation and cross-border collaboration.
Following the formal proceedings, guests were invited to tour the campus’s principal facilities, including student residential accommodations, under the guidance of university staff. The tour offered attendees a firsthand view of the campus’s state-of-the-art educational environment and its readiness for full operation.
Looking ahead, Midwest University plans to further expand its international partnerships and introduce innovative academic programs aimed at cultivating globally competent leaders and advancing higher education worldwide.
