Thank you for your continued dedication to your research and academic work. We would like to provide you with information about the upcoming August J-1 Researcher Monthly Meeting.

The August meeting will be held as scheduled via Zoom on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Central Time.

August Presenters: Nansu Lee, Changbeom Heo, and Jeongho Seo

Each presentation should be approximately 15 to 20 minutes and should include the following:

You may structure your presentation freely using PowerPoint slides, photographs, videos, or other appropriate materials. However, all presentation materials must be submitted to the program coordinator in advance so that they can be reviewed prior to the meeting.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PRESENTATION PREPARATION AND PARTICIPATION

The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program is an official exchange visitor program administered and overseen by the U.S. Department of State. Sponsors are required to monitor and document participants' program activities and progress on an ongoing basis. J-1 related information is also maintained through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Accordingly, Midwest University is responsible for carefully monitoring J-1 researchers' research progress, program participation, and exchange activities, as well as maintaining appropriate program records. The U.S. Department of State may review a designated sponsor's compliance with applicable regulations, and relevant documentation and program records may also be subject to review.

For this reason, please do not regard the regular Zoom meetings and research presentations as merely formal or internal university requirements. They should be understood as an integral part of your official J-1 program activities, and all participants are expected to take part responsibly and consistently.

In particular, researchers designated as presenters are expected to prepare their presentations thoroughly and adhere to the scheduled 15 to 20 minute presentation time. Presentation materials must be submitted to the program coordinator in advance and should provide a meaningful overview not only of your research progress but also of your academic, cultural, and exchange related activities and experiences in the United States.

All presentation materials and records of meeting participation will be maintained as part of the official J-1 program records. Failure to present without a valid reason, significantly inadequate preparation, or repeated absence from regular meetings may be taken into consideration when evaluating participation in Midwest University's J-1 program. Depending on the circumstances, such issues may also have implications for continued participation in the J-1 program and maintenance of lawful J-1 status.

We would like to emphasize once again that these meetings are not simply internal university events, but part of a program operated in accordance with the regulations governing the U.S. Department of State's J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.
